Baby Richard was born posterior and in the first few days together we were having a terrible time trying to nurse. It was incredibly painful when he would try to latch on and no amount of repositioning seemed to help. At the time I even entertained the idea of giving up and going to formula. Our midwife recommended we have Ruth come take a look at Richard to see if there was something obstructing him from a good latch. She came to our house when he was just four days old. Everyone told me that she was like the baby whisperer and I discovered how true that is. As she worked with him it was as though he were talking to her, telling her where things were sore or tight and I could see by his behavior that what she was doing was bringing him a lot of relief. At one point I thought I was watching the birth in reverse. I don’t use this word very often, but it was truly miraculous. Ruth explained that the way he came into the world caused him to have a shallow palette which is why it hurt so much when he latched on. From that time on nursing didn’t hurt anymore. Five months have passed and baby Richard and I are still successfully, exclusively nursing and loving it! I credit Ruth with leading us to a healthy post-partum recovery where our nursing relationship could flourish. I can’t say enough how grateful we are. Thank you so much for all you did for us Ruth!

Thank you Ruth for the time you spent with Lianan. I was truly amazed at how her seriously overlapped sutures (cranial plates) and crooked little head changed shape under your hands. The part that really impacted me, though was your heart for her. The way you talked and communicated with her and the way she responded to you. The time that you took to listen to her. Only truly special people understand that babies can and NEED to be heard. I wish you were still here to work with my new little niece.

Ruth Shephard Trode's services helped my family so much! When I was pregnant and feeling the aches and pains of the third trimester she was able to make me feel more comfortable than I had felt during my entire pregnancy. I could finally take a deep breath and it was amazing! It was wonderful to find relief from the pain that I assumed was just part of pregnancy. My husband, who suffers from tendentious and overuse syndrome, said that Ruth helped him more than physical therapy, chiropractic, and massage combined. She also worked on my newborn and he was like a new person after the appointment. My three day old baby went from the typical curled up newborn to a loose, relaxed and happy little boy. Not only is she skilled at her work, but she is also a gentle, caring, compassionate and attentive person.
